ICDL (European Computer Driving License) is an internationally recognised qualification. The ICDL certification you get upon completing your test is accredited by BCS. ICDL is recognised globally by employers, as the benchmark in Digital & IT User skills.

The ICDL syllabus is designed and is suitable for beginner / novice computer users, meaning that anyone can take the course no matter your current skills or previous experience – making it a fantastic course for everyone.

The course is a complete study programme, designed to improve your computer skills and technical expertise to get you to a high standard in Computer literacy – ready for your future career. Students gain an extensive and thorough understanding of in demand and popular software programmes, and a firm grasp on how PC’s work!

Students will be awarded the Official BCS ICDL certification upon completion of the course.

Course Summary

ICDL Extra is a full level 2 qualification designed to assess the core applications that a user requires.   The qualification proves competency in a wide range of computer skills areas. It provides the individual with an up-to-date and professionally recognised qualification and offers the employer an ensured standard level of training in modern technology and its uses.

Candidates who complete this qualification will obtain a full level 2 qualification. 

The qualification is made up of 4 core units that are each examined by a 45 online minute test.  Delegates may wish to concentrate on certain elements or aim to achieve the whole qualification.

Upon reading the syllabus if you feel confident to sit a test you may book a slot on one of our scheduled testing days.  However, if there are areas you wish to study we can advise you of the appropriate extra courses to help supplement the training with our  other Microsoft’s courses and extra official ICDL diagnostics tests.

Course Modules

This unit demonstrates that candidates can apply their relevant skills to develop a specified outcome, product or solution. The candidate must independently determine, select and apply the necessary IT tools and techniques to achieve their goal.

Getting started with presentations; creating and formatting presentations; performing basic operations; drawing objects; working with charts; printing and distributing presentations; delivering slide shows.

Getting started with spreadsheets; performing basic operations; using formulas and functions; formatting spreadsheets; printing spreadsheets.

Getting started in word processing; performing basic operations; using formatting techniques; finishing and printing documents; using advanced features.

Course Options

IT User Skills

IT User Skills is a Level 1 ITQ Award (ICDL Essentials, which is designed as an Introduction to IT), consists of Modules 1, 2 and 7 with 9 Credits rewarded.

IT User Skills

IT User Skills Level 2 ITQ Certificate (ICDL Extra), consists of modules 3, 4, 6 and 8 (Improving Productivity Using IT) with 16 Credits rewarded.

This builds and helps students to improve their understanding of spreadsheets, presentation software packages, and word processing.

IT User Skills

Level 2 Certificate (ICDL Core) is a Level 2 Certificate Qualification, consisting of Modules 1 to 7 (Excluding the Productivity in IT module), with 25 Credits rewarded.

A wide variety of opportunities are opened to students through the broad range of skills that this qualification provides.
